Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
is a glycosaminoglycan (GAG), which
is a substance that attaches to collagen and elastin to
form cartilage.
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
not only helps keep the cartilage
that cushions joints strong and flexible, but also helps
increase supplies of joint-lubricating synovial fluid.
Research has shown HA to be an effective
treatment for both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis,
particularly in its injectible form (the only form to
date that has been approved for medical use by the FDA
).
In one study, over 80 percent of participants had
significant relief of their painful arthritic symptoms
immediately after treatment with
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
injections. Pain
relief lasted anywhere from nine to 12 months, after
which time more injections were needed to maintain
results.
HA is present in every tissue of the body,
and it performs many important functions. It helps
deliver nutrients to and carry toxins from cells that do
not have a blood supply, such as those found in
cartilage; without adequate amounts of H-A, the joints
will become brittle and deteriorate. Not only does it
keep joints lubricated, but hyaluro-nic acid also
encourages water retention in other bodily tissues. It
is found in large concentrations in the extracellular
matrix (ECM), which is the fluid-filled space between
cells. HA locks moisture into the ECM, keeping collagen
and elastin moist and promoting a youthful appearance.
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
is gaining popularity in the cosmetic
and medical industries. Cosmetic products containing hyaluro-nic acid claim to hydrate the skin, allowing it
to appear smoother and more radiant. Clinical studies
have shown that it also helps wounds heal more quickly,
and can reduce the appearance of both old and new scars.
Injectible hyaluro-nic acid fillers, such as Restylane,
are being to lessen the appearance of lines, sagging and
depressions in the skin caused by acne scars or injury.
H-A eventually breaks down and is absorbed in the body,
so both cosmetic and medical applications are not
permanent. In most cases, the
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
augmentation usually lasts between 6-9 months. Repeat
treatments will be necessary.
Hyaluro-nic acid is available by Hyaluro-nic Acid injection, but you can
also find many oral
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
at health food stores,
pharmacies, and online distributorships. Studies show
improvement in for most participants after only 2 to 4
months of oral HA supplementation, and some patients are
able to decrease their dose after the desired results
are achieved.
There have been no serious hyaluronic acid associated with
HA, although some people find that their skin is
irritated at the injection site, and there have been
rare reports of oral HA supplements causing rashes and skin
irritation as well.
Joint pain can be burning, stiffness, an ache or
tenderness. However it manifests, we want it to go away!
The good news is that a new natural compound has
recently come to light that successfully alleviates
joint pain.
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
was approved in 1997 by the Food
and Drug Admini-stration (FDA) in the USA for the
treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee. People who have
taken the compound report significant relief in joint
pain from arthritis, previous joint injuries, and even
fibromyalgia. Hyaluro-nic acid is the latest in a family
of natural remedies for the treatment of joint pain. Glucosamine, chondroitin, and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)
are three of the most researched compounds in this area.
Smooth, Gliding Joints
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
is a mucopolysaccharide (complex sugars
containing an amino group) that is naturally produced in
the body (the human body makes about 3,000 mg of
hyaluro-nic acid a day). It is a constituent of synovial
fluid, which lubricates the cartilage between moveable
joints. In a normal healthy joint it is this viscous
fluid and smooth cartilage that allows the surfaces of
bones within a joint to function smoothly and glide past
one another.
When a joint becomes injured or is subjected to general
wear and tear, inflammation is produced that leads to a
reduction in the production of hyaluro-nic acid. Age also
diminishes production. This is likely to be one of the
main reasons why a large percentage of people over the
age of 60 suffer from osteoarthritis.
Supplementation with Hyaluronic Acid
Up until recently the administration of HA was only available in HA injection form and inserted into
inflamed joints. Fortunately, an oral form has now
become available which is producing promising results.
With the aid of a pH buffering process, ongoing studies
are showing that a large portion of the hyaluronan
molecule is successfully absorbed via the small
intestine into the bloodstream.
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
in the form of capsules or tablets
derived from animal sources may cause adverse reactions
in some sensitive individuals. Oral liquid hyaluro-nic
acid that is synthesized from an extracellular protein
produced by bacteria, however, reduces the risk of
hypersensitivity and at the same time provides an
identical chemical structure to the HAthat
is produced in the human body.
How Does it Help? Let Me Count the Ways
According to research undertaken by Larry W. Moreland at
the University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA, the
predominant mechanism of how supplements of hyaluronan work is still unclear. Studies, however, show that
supplements reduce the nerve sensitivity associated with
joint pain, reduce the production and activity of
substances that promote inflammation, alter the behaviour of immune cells, and enhance the production of
the body¡¯s own
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
by cells in the joint
lining.
Feedback on the oral administration of
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
is currently limited to testimonials, but a study
monitored by Dr. K. Dean Reeves, (Fellow of the American
Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) is
underway. It is designed to compare the effect of oral
HA with a control treatment for patients
with knee osteoarthritis. The results will be available
later this year.
Joint pain may be common, especially as we age, but with
research underway on natural remedies such as hyaluronan, there¡¯s hope that it doesn¡¯t have to be
inevitable.

The Natural Face Lift? |
By: Jakki Francis
In Yuzuri Hara, a village in Japan, ten percent of the
population is 85 or older. Diseases of aging, such as
cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer's, are virtually unknown.
People rarely see a doctor and their skin rarely shows
signs of aging. They live long, healthy active lives.
As reported on the ABC News program 20/20, researchers
have discovered the ‘magical?ingredient that appears to
keep people in Yuzuri Hara young. It is
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
,
which is found naturally in the carbohydrate foods that
are unique to the hilly terrain of this village.
The Times Newspaper (UK) reported 'New LIFE in OLD
BONES: Researchers are looking for the genes involved
with osteo-arthritis, which may lead to more effective,
targeted therapies. Some studies have also shown
positive results from injections into arthritic joints
of HA, a component of the bodies own
lubricant fluid, which seems to delay the need for a
joint replacement.'
What Is It?
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
or Hyaluronan is a natural substance that is
plentiful in our bodies when we are born.
It is found in all human connective tissue.
What Does It Do?
H-A occurs naturally in the deeper layers of our skin
(the dermis). It helps to keep skin smooth and "plump"
through its ability to hold up to 1,000 times its weight
in water.
It lubricates the joints.
H-A plays a critical role in the rapid repair of wounds
and other skin conditions.
Improves eye-sight
1. Moisture Retention
The ability to retain and hold moisture is the secret to
youthful, healthy, vibrant skin.
Aging robs us of this innate ability to hold in
moisture. As we get older our bodies produce less and
less hyaluronan. The drop in
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
starts at around the age of
18-20 years. But after the age of 40 the down slide
becomes apparent. Skin starts to lose its elasticity and
lines and wrinkles appear.
HA also supports the formation and maintenance of
collagen, an important connective tissue. Collagen
degradation is believed to cause a decrease in skin tone
and elasticity.
Healthy, youthful skin comes from the inside. By
replacing the components that naturally deplete with
age, we can reverse the signs associated with aging.
HA supplementation puts back in what is naturally lost
to restore radiance and youth.
2. Joint Lubrication
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
occurs throughout the body in abundant amounts in
many of the places people with hereditary connective
tissue disorders have problems such as joints, heart
valves and eyes. HA abnormalities are a
common thread in connective tissue disorders e.g
osteoarthritis
3. Wound repair
Another important part of good skin is the ability to
quickly heal wounds. This ability is slowly degraded
with age. In part, it is due to the slowing down of cell
mitosis, crucial aspect of cellular repair and
regeneration. A possible contributing factor is also the
decrease in the amount of
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
available in the body.
4. Vision
H-A makes up 80% of the human eye - it is present in the
vitreous humor of the eye and assists in vision.HA is a
shock absorber to the retina thus helping to prevent
trauma to the eye.
Anti-aging products that use HA
There are two types of H-A anti-aging products:
Those that are applied externally in cream form
Those that are taken as a healthHyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
supplement and work
internally, providing moisture to the inner layers of
the epidermis. By reaching the corium layers of the
epidermis, you penetrate, like no topical application is
able to. This provides essential hyaluronan components to the
cell level where it can work effectively, whilst still
moisturizing the skin and reducing wrinkles |

Information On The Benefits Of
Hyaluronic Acid |
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid is
a fluid that exists in every single living organism. It
is "nature's moisturizer" in that it keeps the entire
body moisturized. In humans, the greatest amounts of hyaluro-nic acid are found in the joint areas. It is
responsible for lubricating the cartilage in the joint
areas. The cartilage keeps the bones from rubbing
together. With hyaluro-nic acid, our joints have the
mobility to bend with ease.
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
also aids in
lubrication of the eyes.
What is the History of Hyaluronic Acid?
In 1934, Karl Meyer and his colleague John Palmer
isolated a previously unknown chemical substance from
the vitreous body of cows¡¯ eyes. They found that the
substance contained two sugar molecules, one of which
was uronic acid. As a result, they proposed ¡°for
convenience, the name ¡®hyaluro-nic acid¡¯, from hyaloid
(vitreous) + uronic acid.¡± At the time, they did not
know that the substance which they had discovered would
prove to be one of the most interesting and useful
natural macromolecules.
HA benefits was first used commercially in 1942
when Endre Balazs applied for a patent to use Hyaluro-nic
Acid as a
substitute for egg white in bakery products. He went on
to become the leading expert on Hyaluro-nic Acid, and
made the majority of discoveries concerning Hyaluro-nic
Acid during the next 50 years.
Where is Hyaluronic Acid in the body?
The upper layers of skin are supported by two major
columns made up of collagen and Elastin. These two
substances make up connective tissue, and the spaces
created are filled with a combination of
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
, water, and protein complexes. This area is
normally used for the transportation of essential
nutrients from the bloodstream to the skin.
HA is found in great quantities in young
skin and the synovial fluids of both humans and animals.
Unfortunately pollutants and sunlight break down the
Hyaluro-nic acid over time by creating oxy radicals.
Studies say that by the age of 50 you will have
approximately half the Hyaluro-nic Acid of childhood.
Hyaluronic Acid in the body?
Hyaluro-nic acid exists naturally in all living organisms
and is a universal component of the spaces between the
cells of body tissues (extra cellular space). It is a
polysaccharide that has an identical chemical structure
whether it is found in simple bacteria or in human
beings. H-A can be found in many places in the human
body, including:
Skin - where it creates volume (without hyaluronic acid,
the skin would appear dry, withered and wrinkled)
The Vitreous Body - where it gives volume and shape to
the eyes.
Cartilage, Bone and Synovial Fluid - where it acts as a
lubricant, shock absorber and filter, amongst other
things.
Blood Vessels
The Umbilical Cord - where its function is to ensure
that the contact between the mother and the fetus is
never broken.
Hyaluronic acid and skin?
Hyaluro-nic acid plays a vital role in connective tissues
such as the skin. The dermis of the skin comprises a
network of collagen fibers within an interstitial
substance composed largely of hyaluro-nic acid. The
elastic properties of hyaluronic acid offer resistance
to compression, so that the skin protects underlying
structures against damage. At the same time, the
non-Newtonian properties of hyaluro-nic acid allow the
collagen fibers to move easily through the interstitial
substance. This lubrication by
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
allows
the skin to accommodate the changes in shape and volume
that occur when the underlying bones and joints move.
The hyaluro-nic acid gel in the skin also inhibits
movement of foreign particles, such as bacteria. This
makes an important contribution to the skin¡¯s defensive
function as a barrier to infection. The barrier also
affects the free passage of other exogenous material,
such as some drugs. This is the reason why some
subcutaneous injections and drugs in creams or ointments
include a small amount of the enzyme hyaluronidase. The
enzyme degrades the hyaluro-nic acid gel around it, so
that the drug is able to pass more freely through the
tissues of the skin.
When we get older, the amount of
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
in the
skin diminishes as the skin cells lose their ability to
produce hyaluro-nic acid. In addition, the molecular
weight of the H-A is decreased with age, so that it does
not hold water as well as before. This can be
demonstrated by squeezing the skin between the fingers.
In young people, the skin rapidly restores itself to its
original volume. However, as we get older, the skin¡¯s
ability to restore itself is reduced. |

Characteristics of Hyaluronic
Acid from Bovine Vitreous Humor |
The hyaluro-nic acids are a class of macromolecular proteoglycans characterized by a highly polymerized
chain of glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine units
bonded to protein. They exist in nature as a hydrated
gel, usually closely associated with other tissue
components such as chrondroitin sulfate. (Arkins and
Sheehan 1972 and Bettelheim and Philpott 1959).
Occurring in intercellular ground substance of
connecting tissue (Blumberg et al. 1955), they have an
important role in controlling tissue permeation,
bacterial invasiveness and macromolecular transport
between cells (Laurent et al. 1975). HA is also one of
the proteoglycans found in cartilage (Hardingham and
Muir 1973). It has been indicated that hyaluro-nic acid
is important in controlling tissue hydration (Block and
Bettelheim 1970). In synovial fluid and heart valve its
purpose would appear to be primarily that of a lubricant
(Meyer et al. 1969).
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
is present in the vitreous humor
of the eye and fluids of the inner ear. Its ability to
act as a mechanoelectric transducer makes possible
intriguing speculation in regard to its function
(Barrett 1975).
The ratio of glucuronic acid to glucosamine varies with
the source as does the protein or peptide residue
remaining after exhaustive protease digestion (Meyer et
al. 1969; Silpananta et al. 1968; Taussig 1965; Marcante
1965; Pigman 1961; and Preston et al. 1965).
Characteristics of Hyaluronic
Acid from Bovine Vitreous Humor:
The molecular weight of HA preparations varies with
purification procedures, i.e., the extent of degradation
as well as the source. According to Bettelheim (1958)
when the protein is completely removed a molecular
weight on the order of 70,000 is obtainable as compared
with 2-4 million in a highly polymerized preparation
(Laurent and Gergely 1955). It has been reported
(Laurent et al. 1960) that bovine vitreous humor
hyaluro-nic acid has a lower molecular weight than most
other sources and that from human umbilical cord has the
largest molecular weight (Jensen and Carlsen 1954).
Pigman et al. (1961) report that H-A is degraded in the
presence of oxygen and reducing agents and by merthiolate, often used in its preparation. Ascorbic
acid likewise has this effect (Swann 1967). The
carbohydrate polymer is negatively charged. When it is
mixed with a cationic protein such as albumin at low pH,
a precipitate is formed. If the glycosidic bonds have
been split, i.e., the chain depolymerized, this
precipitation no longer occurs. This phenomenon is the
basis for the turbidimetric assay of hyaluronidase. |

Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid and Anti-Aging |
Is there such a thing as the proverbial "Fountain of
Youth"? This article talks about Hyaluro-nic Acid, and
why it is something that is necessary to maintain our
body functions and keep our youthful looks.
Hyaluro-nic Acid is natural substance found in the
connective tissues of your body. The benefits of
Hyaluric Acid are that it acts as a lubricant, and is
extremely necessary in the proper functioning of joint
movement, heart valves, and even our eyes.
Another very important benefit, or function, is that it
helps maintain the very shape of our skin. If you are a
recipient of healthy skin, more than likely, you have a
large amount of Hyaluro-nic Acid in your body. Of course,
the opposite side of this is that, a reduced amount of
this acid is associated with the appearance of wrinkles.
There was an interesting study associated with
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
in a
village in Japan. It was featured on the ABC news
magazine 20/20. The residents in this particular
Japanese village tended to live much longer than
average. Ten percent of the villagers are 85 years of
age or older.
It was found, that the village people ingested large
quantities of starchy root vegetables like sweet
potatoes. Studies have found these vegetables are high
in
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
, which in turn may have contributed
highly to their youthfulness.
Our skin has three layers which need to be efficiently
connected to each other. H-A helps to maintain healthy
collagen and to keep the skin moisturized and avoid
wrinkles. It stands to reason then, that HA is a key
ingredient used in many of the best anti-aging skin care
creams and products.
HA retains water much like a sponge. It absorbs an
astonishing thousand times its weight. It hydrates your
skin and increases its volume and density. It transports
the essential nutrients to your skin's viable cells. It
also provides the volume necessary in your skin's
overall appearance.
The benefits of HA are many, with no known Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
side effects
that you need to be concerned about in H-A
products, except there have been reports of some hyaluronic
acid (Hyaluronan,sodium hyaluronate) side
effects associated with knee and facial
Hyaluronic Acid (Injection grade)
(Hyaluronic Acid Injection grade,
Injection grade Hyaluronic Acid)
injections. H-A
is not only beneficial in lubricating our joints, heart
valves and eyes, it is essential to having wrinkle-free
skin.
